Custom Digital Services - My New, Lower Prices

The current economy has affected just about everyone. Like so many others, my situation has changed drastically from a year ago. I'm more careful about how much I spend, and what I spend it on. We're all trying to spend less and spend smarter.

When it came to my business, I needed to cut my expenses there, too. For three or four weeks I worked almost non-stop on finding ways to do what I need to do for less or, in some cases, for free. It has meant giving up some pretty cool stuff, like the service I was using to send out my newsletter each month, or an ad-free (for a fee) way to sell my digital downloadable products, but in the long run I think it's going to be well worth it.

Worth it because now I can pass on my savings to you, my customers, in the form of LOWER PRICES for my digital custom-design services PLUS a FREE PRINT of your custom-designed pages (8.5 x 11 or smaller), AND FREE SHIPPING (for a limited time)!

I guess I haven't made any kind of "official" announcement about my new price structure although I have mentioned it here and there a couple/three times.

So! I'm officially announcing my New . . . my Improved . . . my Lower . . . my Recession-busting . . . my Smarter-spending Prices!!!

A Digital Scrapbooking Template for You

So I'm on kind of a template kick these days! Here's another one based on a layout I did a couple years ago. I actually got the idea for this one out of a magazine while waiting to donate blood. I remember quickly sketching it out in a small notebook I keep in my purse. This is one of my favorites of the graphic style layouts I've done.
Grab it here (for a limited time):

at 4shared
at mediafire

{Sorry, these links have expired, but you can still get the template here!}

I hope you enjoy it! I'd love to see what you do with it so send me an image in an email, or a link if you've got it posted somewhere. And don't forget to leave a comment.

I have been asked for templates in different sizes, and also in different formats, like .PNG, for people using software other than Photoshop, so I'll be working on that very soon!

I'll be outta town for a few days, so behave while I'm gone, eh? I will return at the end of the week relaxed and refreshed.

Take care!

Junk Mail Inspiration

Artistic inspiration can come from pretty much anywhere. I get a lot of mine from magazines, billboards, product labels and boxes, kid's artwork, and many other places. A couple days ago I got a piece of junk mail from a mail-order pharmacy and the design of the front and back pages really caught my eye:
Simple, clean, graphic. Just the kind of stuff I love. Sheesh, I even like the color scheme. Anyway, I knew immediately that these would be great digital scrapbooking templates so I sat right down and created some. Here they are:

FREE to my blog readers for a limited time

download from mediashare here
download from 4shared here

(more templates here)

I like them! I like each one on its own, and I also like them as a 2-page spread. Just think how these could be gussied up into fancy layouts, or kept as simple and classy as they are.

As you can see I didn't add any styles or drop-shadows to the text or the circles, so add your own if you want. The circles could be used for photos or journaling, a mixture of both, or whatever. I just love how versatile these templates are.

I made the templates in the square format that I most often scrap in, but am wondering . . . How many people would like to see templates in 8.5 x 11, or some other size? Just let me know if you do, and I'll add some different sizes. I'll even convert existing templates to other sizes, if you like, whaddya think o' them beans?

AND . . . If you're not a digital scrapbooker - No worries. I scrapbook for others, and would be happy to customize these templates, or any of my templates or Page Heroes (pre-designed pages), for you with your own photos. Click here to see how easy it is to order (not to mention you can check out my new recession-busting prices).

Please leave some comment love!

New (FREEBIE) Digital Scrapbooking Template - One Heart

Yesterday was such a productive day! Boy, once I got the majority of my website updates finished and could get back to creating and designing, the ideas I've had in the back of my head have just been pouring out! (Having all that techie stuff hanging over my head has not been good - I'm totally longing for the day I can pay someone to do that for me!)

Anyway, I'd like everyone to benefit from my good day so I'm offering one of the templates I made for FREE! Here it is:

Download from 4shared

Download from mediafire

(sorry, links have expired, but you can still get the template here)

It's a layered .PST file, so just open it in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, and do a Save As with a new name. Then drag your photos, paper, etc. into your new file. Some of the layers in the .PSD file have a plus sign in front of the name; this is to designate layers to which you can clip your paper or photos. This is a quick and easy way to use templates! Or, use whatever method you prefer.

The journaling lines are on layers of their own so you don't have to use those spaces for journaling if you'd rather put a photo or embellishment there instead. The title and the background paper with the text on it are also on their own layers. Use them or add your own. Templates are SO versatile; that's probably why I like them so much.

I'd love to see what you do with this template so send me a web-size version of your layout, or a link to where it's posted on-line. Everyone that does that can choose another of my templates FREE, just let me know which one you'd like.

I'll leave the above download links active for at least a week to give you a chance to snag this template. After that the template will still be available in my online store.

Enjoy!

Fun Garden Mosaic Digital Scrapbook Layout

When I have a lot of photos of the flowers in my garden I like to make mosaic-style layouts for my album. However, I had not made one since I stopped paper scrapping several years ago. How well I remember sitting for hours with scissors cutting my photos into small squares (ack!) and then tediously gluing them onto my background paper. I always loved the results, but it was only once in awhile that I would take the amount of time necessary to put a mosaic together.

Well, a couple of days ago I came across Vinnie Pearce's totally cool Blocks Page Mask. All I had to do was position my photos on top of the mask, re-size as desired, and then use a quick Photoshop CS3 shortcut (CNTL-G) to "clip" my photos to the mask. That's IT! The mask also came with a "dirty edges" layer. I removed the dirty edges from the blocks that show my flowers, but left it on for the title blocks. I like how it looks! I then added a dirty edge to my background paper to tie it all together. Kinda reminiscent of what my hands look like after I've spent the afternoon in my garden!

I hope the weather is as pretty in your neck of the woods as it is here in California.

Happy Spring!

Digital Scrapbook Layout for Baby Boy's First Easter

A very fun layout! Quick, too, with the help of Pamela Donnis's Easter felt elements, and papers from her Garden Charm kit. I do love purple and green together, great for a boy, and still nice and Easter-y.

My online store is almost ready! I still need to upload more products and test the purchase process and make sure there are no glitches. Feel free to go look now, though, if you want to, just click here. Oh, and I've slashed my prices so check them out, too!

If you have a project in mind simply use my no-obligation Project Inquiry form to get more information and an estimate of cost. Use the link at the left side of my blog.

More soon!

New Baby Boy and Easter Felts

Oh my gosh, just check out this precious baby boy! My cousin Julie's new son, Jaxson. Can you get any cuter than that???
LOVE the peeps, eggs, and candy in the basket with him, so perfect for today, Easter Sunday. I can't wait to make a scrapbook layout with this photo and these:
Easter Felts for digital scrapbooking -- soooooo sweet! I am SO using these for little Jaxson's layout. They are by one of my fave designers, Pamela Donnis. Go here if you want to get some, too. She's also got a full Easter kit (which includes these felts) if you want to get the whole shebang (same link).

We've got a totally gorgeous day here in northern Cali so I'll be taking off for a walk, drive, or bike ride as soon as we decide where we want to go.

Happy Easter!!

Digital Scrapbook Layout - My New Car

I've been scanning negatives and printed photos from 2005 and, in between scans and organizing the digitized versions of the photos, I snuck in a few minutes here and there to create a few simple layouts for my own scrapbook. This one shows me, in January 2005, with my new car, my very beloved Prius. Can't believe I've now had my "new" car for over four years! (Still love it as much as ever, too.)

I hope you are finding time to do something creative today!

Continually Amazed by Photoshop

Until I learn to be a better photographer, there's Photoshop CS3!

Here's a good example of NOT having my digital camera's white balance set correctly for an outdoor photo:

But after just a few clicks of the mouse using the Curves tool I've got this:

All I can say is "Wow." Oh, and "HOORAY FOR PHOTOSHOP!"
