Layout Using FREE Wee Three Trees Elements

In my last post I offered a last-minute Christmas freebie, a set of three embossed tree elements.  (You can still download the set at 4shared by clicking here.)

Today I just wanted to share a quick layout I made using the elements.  As you can see I changed the color of the trees to match my background, resized and moved them around until I was happy with the balance of the layout.  I love simple layouts that allow the photo or photos to be the focus.

The background "paper" is actually a texture that I downloaded from the Shadowhouse Creations blog.  The blog creator, skeletalmess, frequently posts textures, tutorials, and brushes which he offers as free downloads under a creative commons license.  I love his stuff!  You can apply the textures to photos, too.  Look through his blog and you'll see some of his own gorgeous artwork.  I think you'll find it very impressive!

How is your scrapbooking coming along?

Wee Three Trees - FREE Digital Elements

Wee Three Trees by Webajeb

Christmas is over but my guess is you probably aren't quite finished with your Christmas digital scrapbooking layouts yet.  So I wanted to offer a little last-minute freebie; three little trees perfect for your Christmas layouts.  Here's a larger look at them:

Download Wee Three Trees FREE from 4shared here.

A Bevel/Emboss style has been applied to each one for dimension and a little shine.  You can easily change the color of these trees, too {and I'll tell you how-below}:

Changing the color of these elements is super easy:  select the layer the element is on.  Click on the "Add a Layer Style" icon on your layers palette and choose Color Overlay.  Your element will appear flattened, that's ok, you can easily fix it!  Look at the Layer Style dialog box.  The Blend Mode will have defaulted to "Normal."  Using the dropdown arrow, change it to "Color."  Now, choose whatever color you want your tree to be using either your color chips (your foreground/background colors) or the color picker.

The directions above are included, for easy future reference, when you download the trees!  And, like all my digital scrapbooking products, the elements are copyright-free; see the TOU included in the download for details.

There's a little story behind these trees.  I saw some very similar ones somewhere (now I can't remember where or who the designer was) but I wanted to use them on client layouts, which was against the designer's Terms of Use.  So, rogue scrapbooker that I am, I decided to reverse engineer them and make my own, which I can now use in any way I wish, AND give them to you - FREE.  Next post, I'm going to teach you how to make your own outline-style elements just like these trees, so be sure to follow my blog!

Let me know what you think!  If you have any problems at all using my digital products, please feel free to email me at deborah@webajeb.com.

Happy New Year!

Cool Digital Paperclips and a FREEBIE!

One of my latest digital scrapbooking layouts showcasing the use of one of my latest digital scrapbooking products - "paperclips" in the shape of talk bubbles. Or, perhaps, in the case of this particular layout, thought bubbles!

Here is the set that I designed yesterday:

Aren't they fun?? The set includes seven different talk/thought bubbles, each one is delivered both with and without dropshadows. They are 300 dpi and delivered in .PNG format with a transparent background.

Use them like any digital paperclip. Position the clip over your photo, paper, tag or whatever, and then erase the portion of the clip that shouldn't show because in real life it would be hidden underneath the photo or paper. Adjust your dropshadows and you have totally realistic "clips" to add dialogue to the photos on your layout. You're gonna use these over and over again!

Easily change the color to match your layouts, too. In Photoshop set your foreground color chip to the color you want. In the layers palette select the layer containing the clip then add a hue/saturation adjustment layer. In the hue/saturation box click the colorize button. Move the lightness slider to the left until color appears. Then use the three sliders to adjust the color to your liking.

Want to try one out? Just click here (4shared) or here (mediafire) for a free downloadable talk bubble. Exactly which one I'm giving you is a surprise!

To get the complete set at my online store for just $ .99 click here. (Might as well check out some of my other products while you're there, don't you think???)

I'd love to hear what you think, so please leave me a comment and/or send me a quick note.

Enjoy!

Can't Drive 55 Digital Scrapbook Layout

Now that my first digital scrapbook kit is finished and posted (see previous post) I am back to creating some of my own personal digital page layouts. I was playing around with a favorite photo of me driving my car (in which I am driving happily and recklessly) and came up with the above layout.

I really love the sorta swoopy look and feel to the curvy paper lines. And I made the speed limit sign, complete with scratches and mud splatters. I also did a little practicing with typing text on a path.

All in all a very fun layout. I'm going to make a template from this layout and giving it away as a freebie.

Check back (very soon) for the free template!

At long last! My first digital kit, "Fresh As," was created with Spring in mind, and Rainy Winter outside my window. My longing for spring, and my enjoyment of the rain that we desperately need here in northern California, are both reflected in the papers and elements of this kit. Included are the springlike colors of yellows, greens, and oranges; delicate flowers, a weathered picket fence, brads sporting spring-colored stripes, a pre-made title, and plenty of word art to add spring-related quotes or poetry to your layouts.

Included is a bonus: a custom color swatch with 18 colors that exactly match the kit papers. Easy instructions are included on how to load the swatch to Photoshop or Elements. With the custom colors you can easily create additional papers and elements, as well as text and titles, that perfectly match the contents of the "Fresh As" kit.

Get everything in all three previews (above)
for the special low price of just $2.99

Can't wait to hear what you think of my first kit, and to see the great layouts you come up with.

A Digital Freebie from Webajeb

Click on the airplane to download!

I've finally had a little time to play around with new techniques and create some fun, new stuff to use on my digital scrapbook layouts. Some time back, via Scott Kelby's book "Photoshop 7 Down & Dirty Tricks," I learned how to turn solid black shapes, like an airplane, into cool metallic digital elements. For the past couple of days I've been having a great time applying the technique to a fun variety of shapes.

One of my plans for 2009 has been to package up some of my own custom-designed papers, elements, alphas, etc., and offer them for sale or as freebies to the digital scrapbook community. My first set of elements offered is going to be a set of metallic shapes. I hope to get the set completed and available for sale in the next few days.

Meanwhile, enjoy the freebie. Be sure to leave me a comment and let me know what you think of it!
